Julie Chen Moonves is the host of Big Brother's 22nd season which premiered on CBS August 5, 2018. Chen Moonves served as moderator, and was one of the first hosts on The Talk. She won the Daytime Emmy Award for her work. She was a writer prior to becoming a host. Her passion was to write. In fact, it brought her an Emmy. She also won the Emmy award for outstanding hosting of a talk show. Between 2002 and 2010 Chen Moonves was the co-host for CBS News' morning weekday broadcast The Early Show. Her prior roles included anchoring CBS Morning News and The Early Show. The anchor was escorted to Cairo following the 9/11 attacks and gave an exclusive and riveting discussion with the father who was the principal hijacker. Chen Moonves is a journalist who has worked with newsmakers including former New York City City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Queen Rania and the former Defense Secretary William Cohen and Denzel Washington. Chen Moonves covered the Emmy Award-winning CBS Sunday Morning News show. The show featured celebrities such as Jamie Lee Curtis or Paula Abdul. Before joining The Early Show he was a CBS affiliated station's reporter for New York City, WCBS. She was a producer for ABC NewsOne (1992-1995), the news affiliate of CBS in the late 1990s, as well as a desk assistant in ABC News' Los Angeles bureau (1990-1991) during her final year at the University of Southern California. Her first job in broadcasting was as a desk associate for ABC News' late-night broadcast Nightline together with Ted Koppel, who remains one of her journalism idols. Chen Moonves worked with Koppel for the du-Pont-winning Columbia premiertime show, Anatomy of a Riot in 1992, which focused on the Los Angeles riots.
